From November onwards, Departure finally offers its unique retail experience in its full potential.

BANGKOK – Departure, a legendary luggage brand from Taiwan, fully opens its first experience store in Thailand. The store, which is strategically located in Thong Lor area, was soft-launched several months ago, but due to the pandemic restrictions was operating in appointment-only format. From November onwards, Departure finally offers its unique retail experience in its full potential.

Departure’s physical space embodies a vision of retail which goes beyond the traditional shopping. The store not only exhibits a wide range of luggage, but also creates opportunities for experiencing the products. From different types of floor surfaces for testing the wheels to an inclined podium which allows to see the brakes in action, the store offers various travel-like scenarios. And before making the decision, customers are encouraged to try the luggage in different situations.

The concept behind the brand is based on the idea that a quality luggage should quietly support every step of a journey. Crafted with utmost care and attention to details, Departure luggage combines uncompromised quality and superb craftsmanship. Every piece of luggage goes through over a 100 quality control steps and takes 6 major performance tests to deliver a luggage that’s highly functional and maneuverable. Coming with a 5-year warranty, Departure offers one of the best quality guarantee programs in Thailand.

The brand has long been a well-kept secret among frequent travelers, with Departure luggage scoring an instant hit after their domestic launch. The popularity of the suitcases gained traction first in Taiwan and has quickly spread among seasoned business travelers and travel enthusiasts. They appreciated the company’s vision — to create a world where people can pay less to enjoy their travel. Departure’s approach has always been to reduce the price from the very beginning to the customer. But because the brand never compromised on the materials or the standards of production, Departure luggage acquired almost a cult following amongst those in the know.

Departure’s Bangkok boutique is the company’s first overseas experience storefront. The decision to open it in Thailand was driven by both the acknowledgement of Bangkok as the major travel hub, as well as the recognition of strategic potential of the Thailand domestic market. “The pandemic is coming to an end, and we can feel that the interconnected world of travel is making a come-back,” said Leon Wu, Departure Thailand Managing Director. “As a brand, we believe that traveling is something to be enjoyed. And whether it’s for business or leisure, everyone needs a quality luggage that will be their home between homes.”
