VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh stated, that before the pandemic, in 2019, the number of Korean tourists to Vietnam reached 4.3 million visitor arrivals, ranking 2nd among Vietnam’s source markets.

After Vietnam tourism opens entirely and resumes its activities on 15th March 2022, the number of Korean tourists has risen to the top among the international tourist markets to Vietnam. In 2023, Vietnam welcomed 3.6 million Korean visitor arrivals, taking the number 1 position in the total number of foreign visitors to Vietnam. In the first quarter of 2024, the number of Korean tourists to Vietnam still holds the number 1 position and has a high growth rate. According to VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh, to achieve such impressive results, in addition to the cooperation between the two countries, the efforts of Vietnamese and Korean tourism businesses to develop new and attractive tourism products and programmes, the role of Vietnam Tourism Promoting Office in Korea established by Ambassador Lee Chang Kun has a remarkable important contribution.

Not only is it a bridge to deploy promotional activities, and introduce new information, policies, and destinations of Vietnamese tourism, Ambassador Lee Chang Kun in the past years has led many Famtrip groups and tourism businesses from Korea to experience and inspect new destinations in Vietnam. In the coming time, the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate with the Vietnam Tourism Promoting Office in Korea to prepare a number of tourism promotion activities, roadshows and events related to culture and tourism. In recent times, Ambassador Lee Chang Kun has also proposed a number of solutions to create favourable conditions to attract Korean tourists to travel to Vietnam, improving service quality at destinations that attract Korean tourists.

At the meeting, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh sent congratulations to New Chief of the Vietnam Tourism Promoting Office in Korea, Ms. Lee Yujin in her new position. VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh hopes that Ms. Lee Yujin will continue to accompany VNAT in organising promotional activities in Korea. The Vietnam Tourism Promoting Office in Korea will operate more vibrantly and effectively, becoming a bridge for Vietnam tourism to connect and develop in the Korean market. The 2024 goal of Vietnam tourism is to welcome 17-18 million international visitor arrivals and VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh hopes that the number of Korean tourists will account for a high proportion.

VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh inquired, if Ambassador Lee Chang Kun will continue to advise VNAT in welcoming and serving Korean visitors to Vietnam, improving destination management, ensuring rights, security and safety for Korean tourists when coming to Vietnam. The Vietnam Tourism Promoting Office in Korea will support, inform and update new trends in tourism products and services so that Vietnam can meet the demands of Korean tourists.

Thanking VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh for trusting and appreciating the role of the Vietnam Tourism Promoting Office in Korea, Ambassador Lee Chang Kun looks forward to the takeover of the new Chief of Office Lee Yujin. Under the lead of Ms. Lee, the Office will operate more professionally and effectively.
