New Yalbunullup Mountain Bike Trails Enhance Yellagonga Regional Park

Mountain Bike POV

Yalbunullup mountain bike trails, a new family-friendly biking network, is set to open in Yellagonga Regional Park, enhancing outdoor recreational activities.

Work has commenced on the Yalbunullup mountain bike trails and new facilities in the northern part of Yellagonga Regional Park, Australia.

Located off Lakeside Drive on the north-western side of Lake Joondalup, the new, seven-kilometer-long trail network has been designed to provide accessible, family-friendly mountain biking opportunities that complement the surrounding bushland setting.

The trail corridors have been carefully designed to minimize impacts on natural and cultural values and to ensure long-term sustainability.

The name Yalbunullup was chosen in consultation with Traditional Owners and reflects the traditional Noongar name for the site.

Other improvements to the area will include a new 100-bay carpark, new toilets, a large shade pavilion, a yarning circle, and interpretive signage highlighting the area’s history and natural attractions.

This work is expected to be completed in September 2024.

This exciting new trail network is another step forward in the Cook Labor Government’s election commitment to transform Yellagonga Regional Park.

“The project will be delivered by three local companies, creating local jobs, improving facilities in the area, and making it more accessible to a broader range of visitors.”

Comments attributed to Joondalup MLA Emily Hamilton:

“The new mountain bike trails will connect our local community with our amazing natural environment, as well as providing fantastic new facilities for people to be active.

“There is a lot of excitement about this project, including from the Northern Beaches Cycling Club who have been strong advocates for the new trails.”
