Bangkok, Thailand – The Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok confirmed the appointment of Mr. Christian Ruge as its new General Manager, effective from 1 August 2023. With an extensive international background in hotel management spanning Europe, the USA, the Middle East, and Asia, Ruge’s leadership is set to usher in a period of renewed excellence and innovation for this iconic city hotel.
A native of Essen, Germany, Ruge brings a wealth of 25 years of experience in the hospitality sector. He initiated his career at Hotel InterContinental in Frankfurt, subsequently elevating his profile by securing pivotal roles in their premium European and American properties. He further augmented his portfolio with stints as the General Manager at Sofitel properties in Egypt and Poland. His tenure with Kempinski Hotels has been noteworthy, with leadership roles in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and China.
Before taking up his new position at Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok, Ruge steered the Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena in Bansko, Bulgaria, under which the establishment garnered numerous accolades in 2022, including recognition from the World Travel Awards.
Armed with an MBA in General Management and professional coursework from Cornell University, USA, Ruge possesses an in-depth understanding of diverse facets of the hospitality world, ranging from strategic and demand management to hotel real estate investments.
