Accor, Australia and New Zealand’s largest hotel operator, announced a signing agreement with Sarin Hotels to open a second The Sebel hotel in Wellington – The Sebel Wellington Thorndon – following the successful opening of The Sebel Wellington Lower Hutt in May this year.

Located at 172 Thorndon Quay in Wellington’s central suburb of Piptea, The Sebel Wellington Thorndon is set to open in September 2023.

The beautifully-appointed nine-storey serviced apartment hotel is ideally located next to Wellington’s Sky Stadium and is within walking distance to the city’s major government offices and embassy districts. It features 72 rooms, including a selection of studio apartments and one bedroom apartments, plus onsite secure car parking.

The Sebel Wellington Thorndon is managed by Sarin Hotels, a family owned company which specialises in hotel and events centre ownership and management.

The Sebel Wellington Thorndon is the third hotel that Sarin Hotels has partnered with Accor on in New Zealand, following the success of ibis Styles Invercargill and The Sebel Wellington Lower Hutt.

Sarin Hotels Chief Executive Officer, Udai Sarin, “We are excited about the opportunity to once again collaborate with Accor. The partnership allows us to bring a new level of sophistication to the heart of the city, enhancing our guests’ experience with the exceptional standards that Accor is well known for. The union of our local expertise and international support system means our customers can also take advantage of Accor’s global distribution and loyalty network, creating a distinctive offering that caters to both leisure and business travellers.”

The Sebel is a premium brand of Accor with a strong reputation for delivering exceptional accommodation and an outstanding service experience. The Sebel Wellington Thorndon is Accor’s fourth The Sebel hotel in New Zealand and joins more than 30 The Sebel properties across Australia and New Zealand.

Accor Pacific Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Derry, said: “We are delighted to partner with Sarin Hotels on another exceptional apartment hotel in Wellington. Trusted brands, like The Sebel, bring quality and credibility to the serviced apartments sector, which has been rapidly growing in popularity. The signing of The Sebel Wellington Thorndon is part of Accor’s ongoing commitment to expanding our portfolio of hotels in New Zealand, with a focus on providing guests with high-quality accommodation and exceptional service. Sarin Hotels share our passion for hospitality and our partnership will realise strong commercial benefits for the hotels through Accor’s powerful distribution engine, ALL – Accor Live Limitless loyalty program, and our many major strategic partnerships.”

Accor’s franchise network continues to grow in New Zealand and The Sebel Wellington Thorndon joins a portfolio of around 120 franchise properties across the Pacific region.
