Asia Pacific’s hotel expo, World of Accor, makes its first ever stop in Jakarta on 14 June, highlighting the group’s long term support of the Indonesian industry following last month’s earthquake in Yogyakarta.

World of Accor will take place in Accor’s newest hotel – the Novotel Mangga Dua in Jakarta. The hotel opened last year adjacent to Mangga Dua Square development. It is Accor’s first Novotel to open in Jakarta, and part of an aggressive country-wide expansion of the group’s Novotel brand.

Over the past three months World of Accor events have already been held in seven Asian cities with over 2,500 representatives from the travel industry and media attending the expo and press functions. After Jakarta, World of Accor will complete the 2006 tour with stops in Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney early August.

Representatives from Accor’s worldwide network will participate in the Jakarta trade expo to showcase new hotel product, and to discuss with clients their domestic, inbound and outbound hotel needs.

During the next two years Accor will add over 70 hotels around Asia Pacific, bringing the group’s network close to 350 hotels. Its fast growing network around Indonesia is raising the profile of Accor hotel brands with local travel agents and their clients, strengthening the group’s leadership position in the country.

President Director of Accor Indonesia, Gerard Guillouet, said Accor would announce new hotel openings in key regional centres around the country, sending an important message regarding its commitment to Indonesia following the Yogyakarta earthquake and Bali bombings last year.

“Interest in Accor’s hotel network around Indonesia remains high despite recent challenges, and we are very pleased to confirm a package of new hotels opening during World of Accor Jakarta 2006. World of Accor provides us with an ideal platform to ensure our Indonesian partners and their customers that we are fully committed to the long term recovery and sustainability of the country’s tourism industry,” Mr Guillouet added.
