Hotusa Hotels has become the third largest hotel consortium in the world

The chain of independent hotels reaches third place on the prestigious U.S. magazine ranking, on which another company belonging to the Hotusa Group, Keytel, is fifth. During the first half of 2009, Hotusa Hotels has included 266 associated hotels, 21% more than during the same period last year.

Hotusa Hotels is now placed third on the prestigious ranking of the 25 major companies world-wide devoted to marketing and bookings for hotels prepared by the U.S. “HOTELS Magazine”, based on 2008 figures.

During this period, the chain of independent hotels belonging to the Hotusa Group increased by 8.4% the number of its associated hotels (2,150) and rooms (192,455), thus allowing it to move up a place on the list. This considerable growth has become consolidated in the first half of 2009, over which period Hotusa Hotels has added 266 new associated hotels, representing 21% more than over the same period last year.

Another of the companies in the Group, which is chaired by Amancio Lopez Seijas, the hotel representatives, Keytel, has strengthened their position in fifth place with 142,000 rooms and 1,581 hotels with which it closed 2008. The companies in the top places on this ranking are the U.S. Utell-Unirez (11,282 hotels and 1,381,379 rooms) and Supranational Hotels Ltd. (1,662 hotels and 297,400 rooms), whose headquarters are in London. It is worth noting that amongst the 25 companies listed on the “HOTELS Magazine” ranking, there are companies of renown such as The Leading Hotels of the World (9th place), Worldhotels (7th place) or Relais & Chateaux (20th place).

Hotusa Group’s chain of independent hotels has, month by month, been strengthening its positioning as one of the main hotel groups at international level, offering a wide range of services that, as demonstrated by the increase in new associates, have become of particular interest amongst independent hotels, taking into account an economic situation as complicated as the current one.

Over the past two months (May and June) Hotusa Hotels has increased its portfolio with 71 new associated establishments, of which 41 are on foreign soil. The growth experienced in Italy – with 9 new establishments – is outstanding, as it is in France, with 8. The company has also continued its expansion in Singapore, with the addition of a new establishment in this Asiatic destination where it has made it debut. Moreover, at international level, the following new hotels have been added in Andorra (6), Portugal (1), U.S.A. (1), Argentina (2), Holland (1), Turkey (1), Austria (1), Ireland (1), Belgium (1), Switzerland (1), Morocco (2), Rumania (2), U.K. (2), Colombia (1).
