Corinthia Hotels CEO featured speaker at second WTMS

Tony Potter, Chief Executive Officer of Malta-based Corinthia Hotels International (CHI), was both the chair and featured speaker at a plenary session “Destination Development & Investment Services” at the 2nd World Tourism Marketing Summit in Beijing China in late October.

Speaking to delegates from around the globe, Mr. Potter underscored CHI’s interest in new hotel growth, development and investment. This mission has been a hallmark of Mr. Potter’s dynamic leadership since becoming CEO of this rapidly expanding hospitality group a year ago.

“I was pleased to have had the opportunity to share the particular expertise that Corinthia Hotels International has gained by developing exciting new destinations before many other brands. Such destinations included Turkey, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia, and Libya, where the Corinthia Bab Africa Hotel is the only Five-Star luxury property in Tripoli.”

The Summit was organized by the Canada-based World Trade University (WTU) and hosted by the Beijing Tourism Administration of the People’s Republic of China. According to Sujit Chowdhury, Secretary General of the Summit and President of WTU’s Global Secretariat, the prestigious event “brought together more than 350 high-level tourism industry professionals and important government officials from over 35 countries and throughout China.”

Other featured speakers from around the Globe were the Hon. Dr. Ewart F Brown, JP, MP, Premier and Minister of Tourism and Transport, Government of Bermuda, Hon. Prof. Jumanne Maghembe, Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism of the United Republic of Tanzania; Dr. Y. B. Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Minister of Tourism, Malaysia; H. E. Senator Akel Biltaji, Advisor to the King on Tourism; and Prof. Izzy Borovich, Chairman of the Board, El Al Israel Airlines.
