BITTM, the Beijing International Travel and Tourism Market taking place 3-5 April this year, has announced the support of a range of high-profile speakers for its packed conference program. With only a few weeks to go, BITTM has been internationally recognized as a major player in international tourism with the prestigious ECTW Award (The European Chinese Tourists Welcoming Award) acknowledging the event’s contribution to promoting China outbound tourism.

In April, travel experts from China and across the world will gather in Beijing to discuss the hot topics and opportunities available for the Chinese and international travel trade in the fastest-growing tourism market in the world. The UN’s World Tourism Organization is one of the prominent international organizations delivering a keynote presentation at BITTM.

Geoffrey Lipman from the World Tourism Organization said: “The UN World is delighted to support BITTM. All our forecasts show that the massive Chinese engine of growth is also a factor in global Tourism expansion. And what is so exciting is that the well-established inbound market is now coupled with a vibrant outbound sector as the Chinese economy spawns a new affluent group of world travelers. This not only contributes to China`s trade balance but adds an important export dynamic for those countries with emerging Chinese visitor flows.”

The high-level conference will open on the first day with keynote presentations from experts at the World Tourism Organization; the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and the University for Applied Sciences Stralsund, Germany.

A panel session will also focus on the ways in which to penetrate the Chinese outbound travel market. The panel will be represented by media specialists, experts on tourism, international and European tour operators and an airline company. This session aims to provide visiting exhibitors from tourism promotion boards and private companies with practical information and advice on successfully marketing to Chinese consumers.

On the third day, BITTM will run its own award ceremony with the Student Awards. The accolades will recognize the brightest tourism students in Beijing and help them to further their career progress with substantial monetary prizes. In this rapidly evolving market, in-depth knowledge of customers’ needs, as well as benefits of the various destinations, are essential to guarantee customer satisfaction. The awards will ensure that the new generation of tourism students will maximize the training opportunities available to them.

Karen Taylor, BITTM Event Director, said: “We’re delighted to have our prestigious guest speakers on board and we look forward to hearing their perspective and expertise on the latest developments for global tourism in China. It’s a very exciting and pivotal time to be involved in China tourism, with the sector representing the single greatest growth opportunity in global tourism. There will be many opportunities at BITTM for visitors, delegates and exhibitors to exchange information, network extensively and identify new business ventures.”
