Hong Kong Airlines introduces seasonal services to Yonago and Hakodate, and upgrades Seoul flights, catering to the peak travel season demands.

Hong Kong Airlines celebrated its anticipated seasonal services to Yonago and Hakodate, offering a two-month winter service starting yesterday until February 2024 to accommodate the year-end and Lunar New Year travel peaks. In addition, the airline has upgraded its Seoul service from four flights per week to daily, providing more flexible travel options for passengers.

The inaugural flights to Yonago and Hakodate took off at 7:55 am and 11:30 am respectively, carrying over 400 passengers to spend their winter holidays in these two popular Japanese destinations.

Mr Jevey Zhang, Chairman of Hong Kong Airlines, and the management team were also invited to attend the celebration event at Yonago Kitaro Airport.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Jevey Zhang said, “When we launched our first scheduled flights to Yonago in 2016, we became the first and only local carrier to offer direct flights from Hong Kong to Yonago that year, introducing global travellers to the rich natural scenery and profound cultural atmosphere of Tottori Prefecture. After so many years, we are extremely delighted to reintroduce this popular destination to our expanding Japan route network.”

In conjunction with the seasonal flight service, Yonago Kitaro Airport will operate a dedicated shuttle bus between the airport and Yonago City on flight operation days, providing passengers with a convenient and seamless transfer service.

On the same day, Hong Kong Airlines also celebrated the launch of its first-ever seasonal service to Hakodate, making it the only local airline to offer direct flights between the two cities.

Mr Zhang expressed, “We are also thrilled to launch the Hakodate route today, with the first flight achieving over 90% passenger occupancy, which demonstrates its popularity with travellers keen to explore Hokkaido. Along with our thrice-weekly regular flights to Sapporo, we believe both routes will perfectly complement to meet the demand for winter travel.”

On the other hand, Hong Kong Airlines flights to Seoul have always been popular among travellers and have continuously achieved steady passenger loads. As a result of the airline’s efforts to increase the frequency of this route, the number of flights to Seoul have increased from four times weekly to a daily service from 17 December, strengthening the connectivity between two places. Operated by the A330-300 wide-body aircraft, the Seoul service now offers over 300 spacious seats, allowing more passengers to enjoy a quality flight experience.

With the gradual recovery of flight capacity, Hong Kong Airlines is actively exploring more new destinations. During the year, the airline has launched new routes to Beijing Daxing, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Phuket and Hakodate, and resumed flights to several popular destinations including Sanya, Chongqing, Bali, Kumamoto and Yonago. With the Maldives seasonal flights resuming in January, the entire network will cover 25 destinations.
