The best things in life are free, unless it’s a shoe shine kit…Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts reveal which amenities guests actually use. Everyone loves a freebie, unless it’s a sewing, vanity or shoe shine kit, according to Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts.
In research to find which amenities are really used by guests and which are literally left on the shelf, the hotel group has discovered that the majority of guests have simple needs and tend to use the most basic products.
It’s the everyday items of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and disposable toothbrushes that are most often used and anything beyond basic necessities prove less popular. This includes the vanity kit (cotton wool, nail file and cotton buds), sewing kit and shoe shine kit. Even the indulgent bath salts are rarely used.
“The findings are an interesting reflection of today’s fast-paced society and go to show how stretched for time our guests often are, with little chance to make the most of all the hotels’ amenities.” says Greg Hegarty, Regional General Manager UK of Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts.
“However, we will continue to offer all the freebies we have in place – we like to cater for all eventualities and besides, you never know when a sewing emergency might occur!”
