Global safety authority AirlineRatings.com declares a leading APAC carrier as the safest airline for 2024, highlighting its commitment to safety, innovation, and operational excellence in challenging environments.
AirlineRatings.com, the global authority on airline safety and product reviews, has crowned Air New Zealand as the safest airline for 2024, marking a significant accolade in the aviation industry.
Geoffrey Thomas, the Chief Editor of AirlineRatings.com, commented, “The top 25 safest airlines stand out in the industry and are at the forefront of safety, innovation, and the operation of new aircraft. The safety margins between these top 25 airlines are very tight. The difference between Air New Zealand and Qantas, for instance, is just 1.5 points. It’s incredibly close.”
In their evaluation, AirlineRatings.com takes into account a comprehensive range of factors including serious incidents, recent fatal accidents, checks by government and aviation industry bodies, profitability, safety initiative implementations, specialist pilot training assessment, and fleet age.
However, the rating excludes incidents like bird strikes, turbulence injuries, weather-related issues, and lightning strikes, as airlines have no control over such events.
For the selection of Air New Zealand, the editors of AirlineRatings.com noted that the airline maintains a steadfast focus on safety and excels in a wide spectrum of safety measures down to the finest detail, while its pilots operate in some of the most challenging environments.
