Luxperience targets South American travel buyers and sellers

Improved South America-Australia air links see surge in Latin American presence at Luxperience 2013 in Sydney.

Luxperience, the annual flagship travel trade event for luxury and experiential travel in the Australasia region, will benefit from much improved South America-Australia air links.

According to PATA statistics, the number of internationval visitor arrivals from Latin America into Australia, stable around the 42,000 mark from 2008 to 2011, spiked 440% between 2011 and 2012 to 229,000. New aviation links triggered the boost.

Lan Chile now has six flights per week between Sydney and Santiago. Qantas has three. Aerolinas Argintinas now has three linking Sydney and Buenos Aires.

“We’re getting a good response from buyers in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina,” said Luxperience CEO, Helen Logas. “Our Global Buyers program and the new aviation links are working in our exhibitors’ favour,” she said.

Luxperience has appointed Ruben de la Fuente, Director of Latinos Down Under, to enhance Latin American travel industry participation in the B2B show, which takes place in the Overseas Passenger Terminal overlooking Sydney Harbour, September 2-4 this year.

Tourism Australia, an official supporter of Luxperience, will attend the event and work with Latin American and other buyers to boost awareness of Australia.
