New gourmet food onboard Air China’s flights to North America

Air China holds an onboard food tasting for its North American flights.

BEIJING – Air China held an onboard food tasting on March 8 to upgrade its route to New York. The carrier invited comments from gastronomic experts and passengers who attended the tasting where dozens of Chinese and Western dishes were presented. The exercise was to make sure that Air China caters to every palate in its First and Business Class on routes from Beijing to Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. The dishes will get to the menus onboard in different seasons.

At the tasting, the lead chef briefed visitors on the unique features of each new culinary creation, and gastronomic experts gave their suggestions on how the dishes can be matched for the best nutritional value. After evaluating, many newly created appetizers, hors d’oeuvres and hot dishes were selected and will be on passengers’ tray tables during different seasons.

Air China eyes growth in the North American market. The New York route upgrade is part of the carrier’s strategic move to cement its foothold in the North American market and deliver better customer experience. Air China will increase its Beijing-New York service to 11 weekly flights starting May 31, and the flights will be operated using the B777-300ER, an aircraft type popular with business travelers. The First and Business Class feature lie-flat seats and all classes offer personal AVOD. With its optimal cabin layout and design, the B777-300ER guarantees a truly pleasant journey.
