A high-level delegation of tourism department officials and major tour operators of the state of Kasmir interacted with senior officials and media in Kolkatta. The team led by director tourism Kashmir Farooq Ahmad Shah had threadbare discussions with minister for tourism Kolkatta Manab Mukherjee and members of various tour organizations during the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) there.

“We told the officials of Kolkatta government, tour operators and media that Kashmir is still a safe place for visit and incidents like July 11 can take place anywhere,” M Farooq Shah told Greater Kashmir from Kolkatta adding that they assured the team of all possible help to promote tourism in the state.

“We received hundreds of enquiries for booking for Puja holidays from the people of Kolkatta. They are eager to visit Kashmir,” Shah said.

The delegation also met members of Minority Development Forum, CPIM leaders who also assured them of their support to restore tourist flow to the valley.

Shamim Shah, general secretary TASK has appreciated the efforts of tourism department to infuse confidence among the tourists. The association has also hailed the arrangements made by the tourism department at TTF.

Meanwhile, the tourism department is organizing All India Tourist Operators’ Conference in Srinagar from August 2 to August 6. The conference had been formally inaugurated at SKICC. “The confidence is being held as a CBM so that the tourists come to know about the real situation in the state,” Farooq Shah said.
