Intrepid debuts new Pakistan trekking trip

The new 10-day Karakoram Mountain journey marks the third Intrepid Pakistan trip to launch in 2023.

Intrepid Travel is debuting a new trek in Northern Pakistan that will traverse through the Karakoram Mountain Range and Nangma Valley. The 10-Day Trek Pakistan’s Karakoram Mountains tour marks the third Pakistan trip Intrepid has launched in the past two months, as the company continues to expand into new countries and forge new paths for its trekking product.

Pakistan is home to the greatest concentration of high attitude mountains in the world, with five spanning over 8,000 meters. With this tour, Intrepid will become one of the few global operators to bring hikers into this remote part of the country. With a fully supported team of porters, expert guides and chefs, travelers can absorb the multifarious views, enjoy warm traditional Pakistani meals, and sleep soundlessly under the stars.

Intrepid’s new 10-Day Trek Pakistan’s Karakoram Mountains will depart for the first time on September 8, 2023. Experiences include:

  • Exploring the Nagma Valley, one of the world’s premier hiking and climbing destinations that has drawn comparisons to the famous Yosemite for its dramatic and towering peaks
  • Adventuring through sky-scraping mountains known as The Giants and sleeping under star-studded skies in the Karakoram region.
  • Joining a live Balti dance performance at the Nangma Valley campsite and crossing paths with local shepherds whose pastures share these trails.
  • Taking a day hike to the mountaineer’s paradise of Amin Brakk, a natural rock wall also known as the Great Tower.
  • Wandering the story-filled streets of Islambad, with a local guide leading the way.

While perceptions of Pakistan have predominantly been shaped by news media, the country has an incredibly welcoming culture, hospitable people and is home to some of the world’s most iconic peaks and landscapes. Earlier this year Intrepid launched a 15-day Pakistan Expedition and 12-day Pakistan Women’s Expedition, partnering with local communities and business owners like Aneeqa Ali. The two expeditions, along with their new trekking itinerary, represent a significant investment into the development of community-based tourism in Pakistan, with the goal of using travel to help dispel misconceptions about the country.

With their expansion into Pakistan, Intrepid will now operate in more than 120 countries. Other countries introduced for 2023 include Comoros, Vanuatu and Timor-Leste.

Intrepid is also focused on growing its trekking product in an effort to create more low-carbon itineraries and revisit its adventurous roots. In addition to the 10-Day Trek Pakistan’s Karakoram Mountains trip, Intrepid has recently unveiled a 12-Day Trek the Great Inca Road, an 8-Day Borneo Sabah’s Lost World Trek, and an 11-day Hike the Trans Bhutan Trail.
