At this stage, the company hopes to resume some trips by June 2023.

Intrepid Travel will look to bring its first international tourists to mainland China since January 2020 by June this year. The move comes along the Chinese government’s announcement to begin allowing inbound travellers with visas to enter the country, effective immediately.

Some requirements around China travel remain, including the need for inbound travellers to complete a COVID test (either PCR or RAT, depending on country of departure) within 48 hours before boarding their flight to China. Only travellers returning a negative test will be permitted to enter China. Visitors will also be required to complete a Customs Health Declaration when entering China. Masks are not required to be worn.

As previously, all international visitors to China will need to apply for a visa to travel to the country. Travellers are advised to contact their local China Embassy for more information.

Following the long closure period, Intrepid Travel will conduct a full operation review before resuming any trips in China. At this stage, the company hopes to resume some trips by June 2023.

Intrepid offers 14 China itineraries ranging from seven to 40 days. Highlights include an 11-day China Real Food Adventure, a 12-Day China Family Holiday, and the 12-Day Premium China itinerary. Intrepid’s China tours feature a diverse set of culturally rich experiences from the tranquil monasteries to the lively cities and the sublime natural beauty. Travellers will have the opportunity to discover China’s iconic elements and hidden gems, as one of the world’s oldest and most enduring cultures.

“Now that it is permitted, I predict that travellers will rapidly begin returning to our beautiful country and China tourism will soar once again,” said Intrepid Travel’s General Manager in China, Maggie Tian. “With a plethora of natural and cultural diversity, I truly believe there is no travel destination quite like ours. We cannot wait to welcome back the rest of the world and support our local communities that have been patiently waiting for this day to come,” she adds.
