Emirates appoints new Country Manager for Thailand

Optimism in the air as Thailand fully reopens to international visitors.

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Emirates, leading international airline with connections to over 130 destinations worldwide has announced the appointment of Mohammed Alwahedi as its new Country Manager for Thailand.

The appointment coincides with the full re-opening of Thailand, as demand picks up for inbound and outbound international travels. Per the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), starting 1 October 2022, international travellers to Thailand will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination or ATK test results, and a longer length of stay will be on offer, signaling the completion of the kingdom’s full reopening to international tourism.

Mohammed, whose appointment comes into effect in November 2022, will oversee Emirates’ overall business in Thailand, including operations, commercial strategies, as well as driving growth and strengthening Emirates’ footprint in Thailand.

Mohammed has worked with Emirates for seven years, with a vast knowledge of the aviation industry and experience in airline operational growth. Prior to Thailand, Mohammed was Manager for Vietnam at Emirates.

Commenting on his appointment, Mohammed said, “I’m both honoured and very excited to be overseeing Emirates operations in Thailand. I look forward to working with our local team of dedicated and talented staff to ensure Emirates’ growth and continued success in the market.”

The airline has recently taken home three awards at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2022, including World’s Best Economy Class, World’s Best Economy Class Catering, and for the 17th consecutive time, World’s Best Inflight Entertainment. The awards are a testament to Emirates’ commitment to offer the very best customer experience in the sky.

Emirates has been flying to Thailand for over 32 years and currently offers 25 weekly flights from Bangkok to Dubai and 14 weekly flights from Phuket to Dubai, as a hub to other international destinations worldwide.
