Trip.com launches regional buy now pay later partnership with Atome, starting first in Singapore

Through Trip.com’s first-ever regional partnership with a BNPL platform, travellers in Singapore can now pay for their flights and accommodations through flexible deferred payments by selecting Atome as a checkout option on Trip.com’s mobile app or website.

SINGAPORE, – Trip.com, a leading global travel service provider, has partnered with Atome, Asia’s leading Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) platform, to offer buy now pay later options to its customers across the region, starting first in Singapore. This partnership is expected to expand to other markets in the APAC region in 2023.

Through Trip.com’s first-ever regional partnership with a BNPL platform, travellers in Singapore can now pay for their flights and accommodations through flexible deferred payments by selecting Atome as a checkout option on Trip.com’s mobile app or website. To pay, users can download Atome’s app and register an account, before selecting Atome as the checkout payment option.

Trip.com currently carries a product offering of over 1.2 million hotels and flights from over 480 airlines in 200 countries. In the first half of 2022, Trip.com was the 10th most downloaded OTA app globally by leading app analysis firm Apptopia. The announcement comes as Trip.com continues to expand worldwide with its all-in-one app-first offering.

In a recent global survey by travel tech company Amadeus, 95 per cent of Singaporean respondents said they would consider BNPL services to fund their travel in the coming year, more than the global average of 75 per cent. This figure also beats the 57 per cent of those polled who said they might use a credit card. The survey also found that Singaporeans have the most appetite for international travel, coming ahead of German, French and US consumers.
