Minister of Transport to open Airport Solutions Indonesia

Indonesia presents an exciting opportunity not to be missed by those working in the airports and aviation sector, with a major programme of airport expansion planned including a US $25bn airport infrastructure investment and a projected 4.8% increase in air traffic to 2025, all making Indonesia a hub for airport expansion and development.

Airport Solutions Indonesia, taking place 6-7 December at the Jakarta Convention Centre, has announced its line up of speakers and panellists for the two day event. The event will be opened by Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Transport, Republic of Indonesia followed by a keynote address from Dr. Ir. Agus Santoso, Director General of Civil Aviation, Republic of Indonesia. It will feature a number of key industry leaders keen to share their knowledge of the entire airport and aviation buying chain from manufacturers, airport operators, developers, regulators and investors, through to end users.

Separated into four distinct sessions: Security and Safety, Passenger Experience, Airport Development in Indonesia and Innovative Services and Technology; the two day conference aims to bring together key industry leaders to share knowledge, identify opportunities and seek solutions to challenges faced by the industry as a whole with a particular focus on Asia and Indonesia. The program will include case studies such as ASEAN Aviation Policy and Hang Nadim and Kertajati Airports.

The security and safety session will include a presentation from Danang S. Baskoro, President Director, PT Angkasa Pura I then will look at a global view of airport security before a panel discussion identifying performance gaps in Indonesian aviation security, followed by an airline’s perspective on airport security and advancing landside security.  The passenger experience session will focus on enhancing passenger facilitation with Muhammad Awaluddin, President Director, PT Angkasa Pura looking at efficient passenger processes and automated border control followed by a case study on Changi Airport and meeting passenger expectations.

On day two, opened by Arief Yahya, Minister of Tourism, Republic of Indonesia, the Airport Development in Indonesia session will examine developing airports as the gateway to Indonesia, regional airports expansions and renovations and also look at ground handling, with further case studies among other topics. Finally, the Innovative Services and Technology session will feature a case study on Cochin International Airport looking at powering airports through renewable energy and another on building an airport operating system studying Auckland Airport. The session will end with a panel discussion on future technology for Indonesian Airports including looking at robotics and artificial Intelligence, self service options, immersive technologies – iBeacon, augmented reality and facial recognition.
