Vietjet opens second connection to Yangon, Myanmar

The new route is set to take off on 31 August 2017 with the aim of meeting the increasing travel demand of individuals, tourists and corporate travelers between Vietnam's capital city and the Burmese tourism hub.

Ho Chi Minh City – Riding the wave of the booming travel market in Vietnam, Vietjetannounced the addition of a new international route connecting Hanoi to Yangon (Myanmar).

The new route is set to take off on 31 August 2017 with the aim of meeting the increasing travel demand of individuals, tourists and corporate travelers between Vietnam’s capital city and the Burmese tourism hub.

The Hanoi – Yangon route is operated on a daily basis with a flight time of 1 hour 55 minutes per leg. The Hanoi – Yangon flight departs at 12.05pm and arrives at 1.30pm (local time). The return flight departs Yangon at 2.30pm and arrives in Hanoi at 4.55pm (local time).

The capital city of Hanoi marks Vietjet’s second connection with Yangon, with Ho Chi Minh City – Yangon being the first established route between the two countries. The new route is expected to contribute towards the development of regional integration and boost trade between the two countries.

Formerly known as Rangoon, Yangon boasts the largest number of colonial-era buildings in the region and is also home to the gilded Shwedagon Pagoda – Myanmar’s most sacred Buddhist pagoda. Historical monuments aside, downtown Yangon also boasts its share of attractions with its pavements lined with food vendors, colourful open-air markets and impressive colonial architecture. This has certainly aided in spurring the large increase in tourism in recent years.
