Da Nang and Phuket strengthen tourism and trade collaborations

a Nang and Phuket mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership, solidifying mutual intentions to bolster tourism, trade, and investment collaborations.

On the occasion of the 10th-anniversary celebration of the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership (2013-2023), a delegation led by the Governor of Phuket Province visited Da Nang, Central Vietnam.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, presented the socio-economic achievements of Da Nang City for the initial half of 2023. He emphasized the sectors primed for development and potential investments, including tourism, commerce, and high-tech industries.

As part of the strategic move to fortify ties between Da Nang and Phuket, Mr. Chinh proposed various initiatives. These encompassed enhancing bilateral tourism, stimulating import-export activities, fostering seaport infrastructure investments, launching direct flights between Da Nang and Thailand, and swiftly finalizing a cooperative memorandum between the two regions.

Phuket’s Governor, Mr. Narong Wun Siew, recognizing Da Nang’s potential, introduced the strategic significance of Phuket’s Tourism and Trade Council. He underscored Phuket’s keen interest in Da Nang’s investment landscape and expressed hope for sustained collaboration. Additionally, he proposed nominating the Chairman of the Tourism Council as an honorary consul to further facilitate this burgeoning partnership.
