G20 Sherpas receive a warm welcome by Evolve Back, Hampi, ahead of the 3rd Sherpa meeting

The G20 Sherpas’ members were treated by the Evolve Back Kamalapura Palace staff with Indian customs.

HAMPI – Settled in the historic city of Hampi, Evolve Back Kamalapura Palace extended a warm, traditional welcome to the esteemed G20 Sherpas and delegates as they arrived for the 3rd Sherpa Meeting. Chaired over by India’s G20 Sherpa, Shri Amitabh Kant, the meeting witnessed the participation of over 120 delegates, including the respective Sherpas and Heads of Delegations from G20 members, invitee countries, and International Organisations (IOs).

The resort’s staff welcomed the G20 Sherpas and delegates with traditional Indian customs involving application of tilak and felicitation with Silk shawls. Starting today, the 3rd Sherpa Meeting will continue till 16th July, 2023 where the 120 delegates will deliberate and engage in co-authoring of the Leaders Declaration to be eventually adopted by the G20 Leaders in the New Delhi Summit.

An Evening Full of Flavours and Heritage for G20 Delegates in Hampi

With the ongoing 3rd G20 Sherpa Meetings, the enchanting city of Hampi hosted a remarkable Gala Dinner for the G20 Sherpas and delegates in against the majestic backdrop of the iconic Vijay Vitthala Temple. The event, while showcasing the rich heritage of Hampi, treated the distinguished guests to a gastronomic journey prepared by Evolve Back’s team of talented Chefs.

Hampi, which was once the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, is long known for its historical significance and architectural marvels. The city is home to numerous ancient temples, palaces, and monuments that showcase the rich cultural heritage of India. The Vijaya Vittala Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its architectural grandeur, served as the magnificent setting for this cultural extravaganza.

Revered for its Stone Chariot and Musical Pillars, the Vijaya Vittala Temple provided a delightful ambience for showcasing the vibrant traditions and artistic heritage of the region. The evening commenced with a captivating Ghatam performance featuring renowned percussionist Vinnu Vinayakram, followed by cultural dance performances that showcased classical South Indian dance form. The vibrant costumes and mesmerising choreography captivated the audience, immersing them in the rich cultural tapestry of India.

Following the performance, the guests were served an indulgent fare prepared by Head Chef Julius Uttom Biswas and his team of Chefs from Evolve Back Kamalapura Palace, Hampi, which catered at the event. -The meticulously curated menu featured a fine selection of welcome drinks, appetizers, main courses, and desserts, that highlighted the rich flavours of Hampi’s traditional cuisine. . Some of the highlights of the multi-course meal included well-known delicacies of Southern India such as the Avarekalu Saaru, Thondekal Palya, Hitakavere Melogara and Katogara, amongst others.

With around 120 delegates dining, the Gala Dinner and cultural performances served as a remarkable experience to celebrate and taste the local flavours of Southern India. The delegates were seen thoroughly enjoying the meal, savouring each dish and appreciating the diverse culinary traditions of the region.
