TCEB, OCTB sign MOU on business events cooperation

The cooperation between TCEB and OCTB will cover the exchange of delegations to share information and experience in the fields of business events development, management, promotion and human resources development, etc.

Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB and the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau or OCTB sign the memorandum of understanding on business events cooperation.

To realise the mutual interests in the development and strengthening of business events and to recognise the importance of business events sector in intensifying friendly and cooperative relations, the signing between TCEB and OCTB takes place on 19 December 2022 in Osaka. It marks a new milestone for MICE industry to strengthen economic ties between Thailand and Japan for mutual business achievement.

The cooperation between TCEB and OCTB will cover the exchange of delegations to share information and experience in the fields of business events development, management, promotion and human resources development, etc. Both bureaus will provide assistance to each other to promote and attract business events, especially in all kinds of trade shows, and will coordinate with their respective government departments to organise study trips for Thailand and Japan to find opportunities and cooperation on business events.

TCEB and OCTB will strengthen the cooperation by implementing the following 4 measures:

  1. Encouraging the business events or MICE of the two bureaus to establish business contracts with each other and to participate in business fairs, meetings, incentives, conventions, exhibitions and the like hosted by one or both bureaus, e.g. JATA or IT&CM Asia,
  2. Exchanging information on the business events market, research and development of business events products,
  3. Co-organising opportunities for foreign agencies and mass-media representatives to introduce the respective business events potential of Bangkok and Osaka,
  4. Co-organising meetings to exchange cooperation with MICE cities of each country.

The area of cooperation also covers business events training and human resources development – exchanging of experts, trainers and students from their respective MICE education institutions, exchanging of information on business events training courses, curriculum and programs, assistance in establishing cooperation between business events training institutions of each bureau, and sharing special privileges to register seminars or training courses organised by each bureau.

The Memorandum of Understanding on business events cooperation will be in forced on 19 December and remains for a period of five years.
