GBTA praises Oil, gas and marine travel sector inaugural forum a huge success

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the premier business travel organisation, praised oil, gas and marine travel professionals for their engagement with a new annual forum created especially for the sector. The inaugural GBTA Europe Oil, Gas and Marine Travel Forum, which was held in Aberdeen two weeks ago, saw over a hundred delegates from more than 14 countries come together to discuss duty of care, payment solutions, contracting and agency servicing at the two day event.

Issues discussed included aviation supplier risk registries, virtual card solutions, the frustrations of suppliers and buyers in contracting methodologies and the distribution of special fares to agencies and their transparent use.

Talking about the success of the event, Paul Tilstone, Managing Director of GBTA Europe, said, ”We were so impressed by the level of engagement from professionals in this sector. Everyone came to work hard and engage with each other and the feedback we have had has been amazing.”

Mr Tilstone also said that GBTA had a number of take-away actions to create tools and services to assist the development of the sector and an action plan to achieve these would be announced in due course.

GBTA Europe plans to repeat the event in 2012 in at least one other global location and to hold their second GBTA Europe Oil, Gas & Marine Travel Forum in either Rotterdam or Stavanger in October 2012 for more than two hundred delegates.
