Amadeus marks two years of Amadeus One innovation

Amadeus is rolling out the latest enhancements and future plans for its Amadeus One suite of solutions during the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) Convention in Denver.

“Two years ago GBTA was the launch pad where we introduced Amadeus One to the North American corporate travel marketplace. Since then, Amadeus One has been ‘open for business’ and processing live bookings, with new features and tools scheduled and more future-focused technology evolution to come,” said Vic Pynn, Executive Vice President, who heads up Amadeus’ corporate travel efforts in the Americas.

Pynn said Amadeus is pleased with the advancement of Amadeus One, which has been broadly available in the U.S. since January 2010. He added that Amadeus One has continued to advance from simply being focused on the “point of sale” to now evolving to the “point of service.” Pynn said Amadeus One efforts are focused on delivering in five critical areas for the North American corporate travel marketplace:

– Offering solutions that can be tailored to a customer’s unique needs
– Ensuring flexibility and adaptability with custom agency tools and business approaches
– Eliminating business fragmentation, including data aggregation and analysis
– Enabling revenue optimization and fee yield
– Helping travel management companies stay connected with the travelers they serve.

At GBTA, Amadeus is again hosting a hospitality suite showcasing to the corporate travel industry the Amadeus One suite of solutions and Travel Technology Consulting group services. In the “Innovation Now” category, Amadeus is featuring current offerings available in the marketplace such as the Amadeus One Desktop, Amadeus One Open Profile Suite and Amadeus e-Travel Management.

In its “Future Evolution” area, Amadeus is unveiling upcoming features and enhancements coming to Amadeus One, including:

Amadeus One Integrated Partners
This technology is being introduced into Amadeus One to provide an application programming interface (API) to Amadeus partners, allowing them to quickly and easily introduce valuable content to agencies via the Amadeus One desktop.

Amadeus One Service Fees
This next-generation fee management system features a powerful rules engine and context-aware user interface that integrates customer and agent data. For agencies, this simplifies the handling of challenging fee schemas/combinations, ensures accurate fee collection, increases productivity, and maximizes fee yield.

Amadeus One Widget Framework
This feature provides the ability to introduce widgets, or “mini applications,” within the Amadeus One user interface. Also included is a library of Amadeus-developed widgets. It also provides an extended API allowing agencies and third-party partners to create and embed additional custom widgets that can incorporate Amadeus One data with external data to provide more extensive and meaningful tools and information for agents.

New at this year’s Amadeus One showcase is the “Amadeus Labs” area. It features technologies under consideration for Amadeus One and gives attendees a chance to “test-drive” and provide their feedback. Prototypes include:

Amadeus One Unused Value Tracking
This solution goes beyond traditional unused ticket tracking to offer the complete management of all unused value (no matter where the original booking was done), including identification, reporting, usage and processing the use of unused value.

Door to Door Prototype
An extension to traditional air search, this tool being demonstrated at GBTA via Amadeus e-Travel Management calculates multi-modal itineraries, from address-to-address and down to the last mile, to integrate a traveler’s combined air, car, rail, and/or public transportation.

TMC Portal Prototype
This tool delivers portal technology to agencies, enabling them to customize their user interface and define what dynamic content to provide at a single customer touchpoint. This includes profile management, online booking tools, news, social media and other agency information. A mobile version of the tool also puts the travel management company (TMC) portal technology in the traveler’s hands while on the go.

Amadeus One Integrated Mid & Back Office
This solution delivers the vision and plan to finally remove the existing barriers of traditional front, mid, and back-office systems. Utilizing a shared data repository, full support of multi-GDS and multi-source points of sale are realized through the back office to enrich content and functionality.
