Marketing Challenges International (MCIntl), a full-service destination marketing firm in New York City and the North American marketing and sales office for the Convention Bureaus of Vienna, Barcelona and Berlin would like to salute its business partners for being honored this year by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) this year.

The 2010 world rankings compiled by ICCA reveal the latest leading destinations for association meetings around the world. ICCA collates data on all the professional meetings that rotate on a regular basis between at least three countries, and attract a minimum of 50 delegates.

For the sixth consecutive year, Vienna holds onto its status as the most popular city, out of 364 global business meeting destinations, having held 154 meetings in 2010. Additionally, Barcelona retains its position as the world’s second top city to host the most international congresses, with a total of 148 professional meetings. Similar to 2009, Paris maintains its number-three spot with 147 meetings in 2010 and Berlin follows next as the number-four city with 138 meetings. As the North American office of the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre it is also worth noting that Sydney has also made ICCA’s list for 2010, coming in at number-ten. MCIntl is proud to be the North American partner of these world-class cities and venue and congratulates them all on their success.

This year the ICCA data researchers have identified 9,120 events which took place in 2010, 826 events more than were identified last year in 2009-an all-time record! ICCA accredits these growing numbers to the many improvements that the association meetings market has been seeing since the recent economic downturn. Furthermore, ICCA also attributes the increase to a record number of ICCA members sending their calendar information to help identify new events. The full ICCA statistics report for 2010 will be released by the end of June.
