Titan Airways bolsters fleet with BAe Avro RJ100

Building on a 14-year relationship with BAe Systems, Titan Airways, the VIP charter specialist, is adding an Avro RJ100 regional jet to its fleet. The aircraft will join Titan’s 12-strong London Stansted-based charter fleet and will initially be used on the airline’s UK Ministry of Defence contract to provide passenger and freight capacity in the Gulf region.

The aircraft, registration G-POWF, can provide flexible seating with variable geometry seats, configured for all economy service with 110 seats, six abreast or 55 business class and 43 economy seats if desired.

“Fortunately for us this aircraft became available on the market at the right time and it is ideal for our needs,” said Alastair Kiernan, Titan Airways’ Commercial Director. The RJ100, the biggest and latest version of the BAe146 family combines rugged performance with short runway characteristics capable of serving airports including London City and Florence as well as Sion in the Swiss Alps, which is currently operated exclusively as a scheduled destination during the ski season, by Titan’s ski airline and sister company, Snowjet, utilising a BAe 146. Deploying the RJ100 on the route will enable Snowjet to offer an additional 30-seats per sector.

“With its excellent short runway capabilities, variable seat geometry and a range with maximum payload of 1,300 nm, the RJ100 will sit very comfortably in the Titan fleet. We anticipate plenty of interest for ad hoc and ACMI operations,” added Kiernan.

As with all the Titan fleet, including the recently introduced, brand new Embraer Legacy 650, under its Titan Executive Airways brand, the RJ100 will be available for short notice, rapid response charter and sub-charter. Titan’s unique ‘Go Now’ policy guarantees that any of its fleet can be airborne within 60 minutes of flight confirmation.

Three-times winner of BACA’s prestigious passenger Charter Airline of the Year award, Titan Airways celebrates 23 years of passenger operations this year. The airline’s enviable reputation is built on its wealth of experience and attention to detail. Titan’s bespoke charter service enables clients to tailor-make the travel itinerary from departure and arrival airports of their choice, utilising the airline’s fleet of turboprop and jet aircraft seating up to 265 passengers.
