The 8th International Forum on Chinese Outbound Tourism (IFCOT) held in Beijing

The eyes of travel industry worldwide are focused on China. An important conference for the trends of China's outbound held few days ago in Beijing.

BEIJING- As China’s outbound tourism market has broken the 70 million travels mark for the first time in history last year, the 8th IFCOT was held in the Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel with the theme of Quality Supplier Certification and Framing New Model. The Forum, jointly organised by Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and Ivy Alliance Tourism Consulting Co., Ltd, was attended by 200 plus industry elites coming from travel organisations of 20 countries such as Malaysia, U.S., Turkey, New Zealand, Spain, Singapore, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, as well as about 100 Chinese outbound travel agencies, 50 media, and leading Internet companies like Baidu and Dragon Trail. This forum covers the following heated issues: the characteristics, trends and tourists source structure of China outbound tourism market 2012-2013, the guidance of the latest outbound tourism policy, transition of outbound travel market and shaping new models, oversea consuming and the Chinese travelers’ changing demanding; trends and features of MICE outbound travel market; application of social media and micro-blog marketing on outbound travel among others.

In the welcome address Ms. Kate Chang, PATA Regional Director for Greater China, shared the PATA Next Gen Initiatives with the delegates and briefed the newly released PATAmPOWER along with its revolutionary impacts upon the future research into the China’s outbound market.

Dr. Wang Xinjun, president of Ivy Alliance Tourism Consulting Co., Ltd, introduced the trends and characteristics of Chinese outbound tourism market in 2012, and released the summarized development trends of the market for the next two years.

A big delegation from PATA member Guam Visitors Bureau showcased Guam which was led by US Congress Women Madeleine Z. Bordallo.
