Singapore Airlines to increase A380 services to London Heathrow

More Singapore Airlines customers flying to and from London will soon enjoy the carrier’s world-renowned A380 cabin products and flying experience. The Airline will add an additional A380 service on the Singapore-London route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The world’s largest passenger aircraft will be used to operate flights SQ 318 from Singapore to London Heathrow, and the returning flight, SQ 321.

This is in addition to the current daily A380 service operated on flights SQ 322 (Singapore-London) and SQ 317 (London-Singapore).

The additional service will boost the number of Singapore Airlines A380 flights between the two cities to 11 times a week, up from 7.

“Our A380 products have been very well received by our customers, and loads on the Singapore-London route have been exceptionally encouraging. The deployment of another A380 on this route will cater to continual strong demand from customers traveling between Singapore and London,” said Mr Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Marketing and Regions.

The increase in A380 services to London will follow the scheduled delivery of Singapore Airlines’ fifth A380 aircraft from manufacturers, Airbus, in late June 2008.

The new A380 service between Singapore and London will take effect from 16 July 2008. However, there will be a temporary break in A380 operations on SQ 318 (Singapore-London) and SQ 321 (London-Singapore) from 31 July 2008 to 9 August 2008 inclusive as the aircraft will be deployed to Beijing for a week, to cater for increased demand in the lead-up to the start of the Olympic Games.
