Priority Pass reaches milestone of 1,000 airport lounges worldwide following year of strong growth

Priority Pass has strengthened its position in the Asia Pacific region, with 32 lounges added to its network.

LONDON – Priority Pass, the world’s original and largest independent lounge membership program, announced that it provides access to over 1,000 airport lounges worldwide, following a year of strong growth. Priority Pass has worked with new partners in key regions around the world to add 130 new lounges within the last 12 months.

Priority Pass has strengthened its position in the Asia Pacific region, with 32 lounges added to its network. This includes 11 lounges in China, with Chengdu and Zhengzhou proving particularly popular additions with travelers. New lounges have also opened in the growing economic hubs of Indonesia, Taiwan, Myanmar and Cambodia, as well as in New Zealand and Australia, all catering for the growth in business and leisure traveling Asia.

Across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Priority Pass has expanded its network with 69 new lounges, a 19% growth on the same period in 2015. This figure breaks down as 47 new lounges across Europe, 12 in Africa and 10 new lounges in the Middle East. Following a surge in demand, an additional 31 lounges have been added in Russia, including the opening of prominent lounges in Moscow Sheremetyevo, Vladivostok and Novosibirsk.

Priority Pass has also expanded its coverage in South America with 18 lounges, including new lounges in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil. In the United States, Priority Pass has added a further 6 lounges to its program, in strategically significant locations such as Boston.

Stephen Simpson, Global Marketing Director for Priority Pass, part of the Collinson Group, commented: “It is fantastic to see the number of lounges within our network continuing to grow at pace. The team has worked tirelessly to ensure Priority Pass members have access to the largest network of lounges across the globe and we are delighted to be able to offer access to over 1,000 lounges in key destinations across the globe.”

“Not only has our network significantly grown over the last year, but so too has our knowledge and understanding of the changing global demands of the 21st century traveler. It is becoming increasingly clear that travelers are less prepared to pay a premium for business class seats, instead preferring to enhance their travel with benefits such as lounge access, concierge services and exclusive experiences at their destinations.”

Priority Pass has the largest lounge portfolio of any independent provider.
