Princess Cruises to screen FIFA World Cup Games on Movies Under the Stars

SINGAPORE – Princess Cruises will delight soccer fans by screening all 64 games of the upcoming FIFA World Cup aboard nine cruise ships during the June 12-July 13 tournament. The matches will air on the line’s signature Movies Under the Stars® outdoor screens, which have space for hundreds of guests to enjoy the action.

Soccer fans will also enjoy themed entertainment and activities, including World Cup trivia, face painting with favourite team flags, team cheering sections and soccer-themed contests with prizes.
 

The World Cup games will be shown on board nine ships including the Sapphire Princess and the Diamond Princess. The Sapphire Princess will be homeported in Singapore for an extended season of cruise trips in Southeast Asia from November 2014 to March 2015, the largest deployment ever by a premium cruise line in the region. The Diamond Princess is currently deployed in Japan for an extended season of nine-day cruises that include visits to Taiwan, South Korea, Hokkaido, Russia and 15 Japan destinations.
 

The World Cup is just one of many special events shown on the Movies Under the Stars screens, including Monday Night Football, the Super Bowl and the Academy Awards. The giant LED screens are more than 300 square feet in size, with a 69,000-watt sound system and have sufficient lighting power to be seen clearly at mid-day and heard even while the ship is moving at full speed – offering cruise guests a movie experience comparable to the best shore-side movie theatre.
