SINGAPORE – Nikoi Private Island continues to redefine barefoot luxury with the addition of three new spacious pool villas and a Mediterranean restaurant. Located just a short journey from Singapore and 8km off the east coast of Bintan, Indonesia, the family-friendly island is the ideal retreat for discerning travellers looking for an active or relaxing getaway.

The stylish two-storey beach houses blend naturally with the surrounding environment where guests can experience lush living from ample bedroom spaces and tropical-styled ensuite bathrooms, with open showers, to an expansive balcony with ocean and beach views. Open-air decks located on the first floor of the villas house private daybeds and a lounge area carefully designed to catch the cooling ocean breeze.
The new pool villas are the first in Nikoi’s collection to boast private pools. The two-bedroom villas comprise a master bedroom upstairs and a twin downstairs, both of which have ensuite bathrooms. Located on the beachfront, the carefully curated design introduces guests to barefoot luxury at its very best. Free from televisions and telephones, Nikoi’s accommodation options provide the perfect spot for total seclusion.
Nikoi Island is home to two dining spaces, each comprising of a nine-metre communal dining table made from driftwood and white sandy floors. This season, the island introduces its second restaurant space named Biru, meaning ‘blue’ in Bahasa. The name pays homage to the myriad of blue tones reflected from the uninterrupted views at the venue.
Serving a Mediterranean sharing-style concept, guests can look forward to offerings such as platters of lamb skewers, chargrilled broccoli with tahini, and Zucchini fritters with spiced yoghurt. Western-influenced dishes are also abundant, with fresh seafood selections, such as lemon fish and grilled prawns, roast chicken with lemon and herbs, and Ratatouille.
With an emphasis on fresh and unprocessed ingredients sourced from markets in Bintan and the island’s organic farm, menus changed daily according to the seasonal availability and reflect the island’s commitment to minimising food wastage, a concept brought forward from the island’s first restaurant.
There are three bar areas on the island, Yogi’s Beach Bar, nestled against two magnificent granite boulders, The Sunset Lounge, providing a great spot to watch the sun go down, and The Pool Bar, providing stunning views across the sea. Each with their distinct character, the bars serve up island cocktails, spirits, local and imported beers and fine wines. Trained by some of the world’s leading bartenders, Nikoi’s bar staff have created a selection of unique cocktails using local ingredients, many of which are grown on the island.
With much of the island left untouched, Nikoi allows guests to explore the beauty of the rich biodiversity at the destination with dedicated foot tracks. Secluded relaxing sections are located along the pristine white sands of the beach, with natural plantation umbrellas and sun lounges readily available.
Equipment and facilities are assured for active thrill seekers, as guests can delve into the island’s surrounding scenic reef for an array of leisure activities from water activities such as snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, and windsurfing. Unique to the island, guests can also revel in a cooling dip in one of the expansive pools secluded away from the villas and main facilities, offering an oasis gateway experience with the backdrop of stunning rock formations and the glistening South China Sea.
Land lovers can partake in a game of Tennis or Croquet on Nikoi’s two natural grass tennis courts. With a dedicated Kids Club, children are challenged with island treasure hunts and an entertainment area by day, and an open-air cinema under the stars by night.
Nikoi Island also participates alongside The Island Foundation to create opportunities for children living in the Bintan Regency, Riau Islands region.
