LUX* Resorts and Hotels receives top accolades in China as the brand continues expansion into the Chinese market

Newly opened LUX* Tea Horse Road Benzilan recognised as “Best New Opening Hotel” in T+Urbanspace Grand Design Awards, among growing accolades for LUX* Resorts and Hotels in China.

LUX* Resorts & Hotels is honoured to have been recognised by some of the most reputable associations and respected publications, making LUX* shine one more time on the international scene. The most recently opened LUX* Tea Horse Road Benzilan, which opened in January of this year has already been recognized as Best New Opening Hotel in the first annual T+Urbanspace Grand Design Awards. T+ Urbanspace Magazine is a prominent national publication covering the best in architecture, design, lifestyle, & urban planning. Sister hotel LUX* Tea Horse Road Lijiang which opened in 2015 was also awarded as Best Boutique Hotel in the T+Urbanspace Grand Design Awards. LUX* Tea Horse Road Lijiang also recently received a 2015 Award of Excellence from Booking.com in honour of achievement in overall guest review score and an award for 2015 Best Boutique Hotel from the Chinese Travel + Leisure magazine.

It’s fantastic that LUX* Resorts & Hotels is receiving increased recognition in China with the opening of LUX* Tea Horse Road Benzilan,” says Paul Jones, CEO of LUX* Resorts & Hotels. “Chinese travellers are staying at our resorts and hotels in increasing numbers and, with our exciting expansion planned in China in the coming years, we are embracing the country’s passion for travel, relaxation and adventure.

Located at the centre of what was once a strategic post along the ancient tea trading route in the Greater Shangri-La region, LUX* Tea Horse Road Benzilan is the second boutique hotel in China from the innovative LUX* Resorts and Hotels Group. The unique boutique hotel features modern design inspired by elements of typical Tibetan architecture with traditional materials and methods used where possible. The compelling design complements panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks of Baima Snow Mountains, surrounded by tranquil Tibetan villages on the banks of the Yangtze River.

These new awards add to a growing list of international accolades for LUX* Resorts in hotels for design, innovation, and world-class facilities and service excellence. As the Chinese Traveller continues to grow in international influence and importance, LUX* Resorts & Hotels is proud to have added several prestigious Chinese awards to its international recognition within the past year. LUX* Lijiang in China, LUX* Grand Gaube and the newly refurbished LUX* Belle Mare, both in Mauritius, all won several Chinese media awards in 2015.

The transformed LUX* Belle Mare in Mauritius was named Best Overseas Hotel by China Best Design Hotels Awards. This prestigious accolade from The Bund Magazine in Shanghai – one of China’s leading lifestyle magazines – is a gratifying endorsement of the resort’s fresh new look, positioning LUX* Belle Mare as the place to be when travelling to Mauritius.

Further north in Mauritius, LUX* Grand Gaube was awarded Best Wedding Hotel by Travel & Leisure magazine. Mauritius is a fast-growing destination of choice for young Chinese couples looking for the wedding of a lifetime. With spectacular views across the sparkling ocean to the northern islets beyond, LUX* Grand Gaube is an idyllic spot to find tranquillity and romance. Travel & Leisure magazine is one of China’s top travel publications with a monthly distribution of more than half a million copies.

LUX* Lijiang in China was named Best Newly Opened Boutique Hotel by Travel Info Magazine in November 2015 and the momentum has continued with its designation as Best New Arrival Award, for the Best Luxury Hotel in Lijiang, in Hurun Report’s Best of the Best Awards. Hurun Report, considered the Chinese equivalent of Forbes, has become the go-to guide on luxury lifestyle, travel and business news for China’s wealthy elite.
