Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre ‘serves an aceE’ for Australia Day 2017

Themed 'Active Australia', celebrating the enduring sporting connections between Australia and Malaysia and the role sport plays in both societies, the menu was tailor-made by the Centre's 50-strong culinary brigade.

KUALA LUMPUR – A bird’s eye view of the Australia Day 2017 celebration held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) recently. Hosted by the Australian High Commission Malaysia and officiated by Malaysian Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong and Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, H.E. Rod Smith, close to 1,000 guests from the government, Malaysian society and the Australian community in Malaysia, gathered to mark the occasion.

Themed ‘Active Australia’, celebrating the enduring sporting connections between Australia and Malaysia and the role sport plays in both societies, the menu was tailor-made by the Centre’s 50-strong culinary brigade to match the theme and used premium Australian ingredients and produce at the 10 lively ‘Chef Action Stations’ and innovative 3-metre boat-shaped buffet display. In addition, the culinary team fashioned five handmade ice carvings of iconic Australian animals and landmarks.

Elaborating on the event, the Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor shared, “We are delighted to host this reception for the 10th consecutive year. For this event, our operations team ‘amped-up’ the venue ambiance and decor to match the spectacular culinary elements prepared by our award-winning chefs. This included a gigantic eye-catching LED installation above the boat-shaped buffet centre-piece, which included four screens – two measuring 20 metres (W) x 3 metres (H) and two 12 metres (W) x 3 metres (H) – all displaying spectacular Australian images and footage. The installation was complemented by 10 LCD TVs at the ‘Chef Action Stations’ and an animated LED Australian flag along the entire wall to ensure a truly entrancing experience for all.”

Praising the entire team for their efforts, Pryor cited the reception as yet “Another example of how our team goes above and beyond to deliver value to repeat and new clients through innovative solutions.”
