HBA poised for continued global growth in 2013

World’s largest hospitality interior design firm announces new projects in 25 countries.

HONG KONG- Building on a year of unprecedented expansion in new and emerging markets, interior design leader HBA is pleased to announce a host of notable projects for 2013. With major, blue chip openings scheduled in 25 countries, including China, the UAE, India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Russia, and Turkey, HBA is poised to maintain its dominance of the global hospitality design industry. In line with an aggressive growth strategy, China and the Middle East have been identified as markets of particular importance.

Scaling new heights in 2012, HBA completed work on the groundbreaking Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou housed within the 103-storey Guangzhou International Financial Centre, amongst other landmark projects in China and across Asia. Highlighting its clear local leadership, HBA was named Best Hospitality Design Institution of Asia at the 2012 Asia Hotel Awards and Best Interior Design Firm at the 2012 India IDE Honorarium. The last twelve months saw the opening of four new offices in Beijing, Istanbul, Moscow and Thailand, growing the firm to 1,000 employees globally. Brand offerings also expanded to include the new HBA Architecture in Singapore and Shanghai.

“2012 was an exceptionally strong year for HBA and we are delighted to have partnered with the world’s top hoteliers on truly remarkable designs,” said Ian Carr, Co-CEO of HBA. “Looking forward, 2013 promises some exciting new projects and business developments for HBA, as we continue to grow our footprint internationally.”

This year will see an impressive list of highly anticipated new openings for HBA, over 50 percent of which will happen in China. Consistently demonstrating its on-going commitment to the country, HBA’s first highlight projects of the New Year, set to open, in China include the Sifang Collective Hotel, Grand Hyatt Shenyang, Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, and Shangri-La Jing An in Shanghai. Like other HBA projects, these properties will blend rich cultural and historical detail with modern design in order to create exceptional, brand-reinforcing properties.

HBA also continues its aggressive growth strategy in the Middle East, a region that remains significant for the firm, with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the UAE all experiencing increased tourism and a renaissance in hospitality projects. HBA recently completed the design of the St Regis Saadiyat Island, the first St Regis hotel in the Middle East, as well as the St Regis Nation Towers – both located in Abu Dhabi.

With 15 offices across four continents and a portfolio of more than 1,000 projects that span over 80 countries, HBA is uniquely positioned to maximize both its global reach and resources while harnessing the skills of its individual design teams on the personal and small scale. Over the years, HBA has partnered with some of the most prestigious hospitality brands in the world, including the Waldorf Astoria, Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, St. Regis, and Grand Hyatt. The design for each new HBA property blends tradition with innovation, while taking into account the unique characteristics, history, and culture of its setting.
