ezRez Software, Inc., a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider of travel and loyalty solutions, has received the 2011 Budgie Award for Technology Foresight as named by the World Low Cost Airlines Congress. Selected by a panel of independent industry experts, the Budgie Awards recognize achievements and contributions being made by travel and technology innovators toward the development and sustainability of the low cost airline industry.
ezRez received the Budgie for its innovation in flight award booking technology. The new product allows airlines to offer award flights based on traditional fixed mileage requirements, as well as market-priced awards where mileage requirements are based on the availability and price of tickets across fare classes. The combination of fixed and market priced awards delivers more flexibility and enhanced redemption options to frequent flyer members, enabling airlines to maximize the benefits provided to their most loyal customers. The ezRez platform also provides the highest level of customer satisfaction by integrating directly with airline loyalty banks to provide real time updates to point balances with each booking, modification or cancellation.

The award for Technology Foresight is presented to the individual or organization that has “shown the greatest foresight in developing or fostering the development of a technology used or able to be used by airlines,” according to the Low Cost Airlines Congress. In selecting the winner, the judges’ criteria included the “technology’s potential for far reaching effect on business or consumer markets as well as the innovation represented by the technology.”
