The Diving Equipment & Marketing Association (DEMA) has announced that its President, Al Hornsby, and Executive Director, Tom Ingram, will attend the Asia Dive Expo 2006 (ADEX) in Singapore to encourage international diving travel business for all Association members. Augmenting its presence on the Expo floor, Mr. Ingram and Mr. Hornsby will present four seminars as part of ADEX’s trade and consumer seminar program, as well as host a membership meeting. DEMA’s attendance is part of its partnership with Suntec Integrated Media, owners of ADEX 2006, Asia’s leading international dive exposition. ADEX will be held April 21 – 23, 2006 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre (Hall 403 and 404).
Centering on dive travel, photography and marketing, DEMA’s seminars will be aimed at both generating business ideas for the dive industry and providing relevant information to the public. Mr. Hornsby will conduct two seminars: one for the trade – dive retailers and dive resort operators – and one for consumers. The trade seminar, “Proven Methods for Marketing Dive Travel,” will present a model for how to research and understand today’s dive travel customer and share proven techniques of successful dive travel organization and marketing.
His other seminar, titled “Underwater Photography: Secrets of the Pros,” will use photo examples to demonstrate insider techniques of composition, exposure, lighting and working with models used to create those spectacular images published by professional photographers. Mr. Hornsby’s seminars will take place on April 21st at 1400 and April 22nd at 1700 respectively.
The first of Mr. Ingram’s seminars, “Travel Pricing – Is Your Dive Travel Program Profitable?” will provide dive retailers with important tips on running a profitable travel program. This interactive workshop will help retailers and travel sellers determine the break-even point of any dive travel program and how to make profits by using simple-to-use, specially formatted spreadsheets/templates. Mr. Ingram’s second seminar “The Secret Adventure Travel Market: Traveling Women” will focus on the fastest growing U.S. travel segment – women between the ages of 45 and 60, and will examine the five secrets for promoting to this substantial marketplace and generating profitable travel sales. Mr. Ingram’s seminars will take place April 21st at 1100 and 1500 respectively.
Both Mr. Hornsby and Mr. Ingram will also conduct a DEMA membership meeting for professionals during the Expo. The membership meeting will be held on Saturday April 22, 2006 in Meeting Room 310 (Level 3) in Suntec Singapore. The purpose of the meeting is to report on DEMA’s recent business activities and to recruit international membership to grow the Association. In addition to DEMA’s presence at the meeting, Suntec’s partners from the China Dive Expo will also be on hand to discuss the upcoming CDEX show.
Continuing to be the largest trade event in the world for companies doing business in the scuba diving, ocean sports and adventure/dive travel industries, DEMA Show 2006, the 30th annual DEMA Show, will take place November 8-11, 2006 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. More than 600 exhibitors from around the world and thousands of dive and travel industry professionals are expected to gather at this year’s Show which will offer the most extensive educational program in the industry.
