Ctrip outlines vision for global car rental ecosystem

Shared industry resource to drive convenience and value for travelers & partners in China and abroad.

SHANGHAI – At Ctrip’s Car Rental Ecosystem Event held on October 30, the company presented its vision of an integrated car rental ecosystem providing value and driving innovation across the entire industry chain. As an important car rental platform in China’s domestic market, Ctripis committed to continuously optimizing its car rental business segment.

According to data released by China’s Academy of Social Sciences in 2014, 2.3 billion trips in China were made through car rentals, accounting for 62% of the total number of travelers that year.

In 2016, 1 million tourists both at home and abroad rented cars through the Ctrip platform, a 100% increase as compared to 2015.

Ctrip car rental platform aiming to ‘Go Global’
Ctrip’s car rental business currently covers over 300 Chinese cities and 10,000 stores and service centers, providing customers with more than 100,000 rental vehicles to choose from.

As car rentals are typically booked in combination with flight and hotel reservations, Ctrip’s one-stop platform helps users, rental companies, automobile manufacturers and dealers to share and thrive within a shared ecosystem.

Senior Vice President of Ctrip Chen Gang said, “As Chinese customers increasingly appreciate the flexibility and convenience of renting cars as part of their Ctrip travel itinerary, we expect to see sustained rapid growth over the next 3 to 5 years. As we focus on providing the best online and mobile travel booking experience, we have confidence that Ctrip will bring more customers to our partners and value to our users.”

Ctrip’s Car Rental CEO Wang Yuchen said, “Ctrip’s strategy of developing a leading car rental ecosystem is designed to provide users with ever more cost-effective products and services. We look forward to continuing to help car rental partners expand their customer base and to provide resources which help them increase their competitiveness.”
