BITTM, the Beijing International Travel and Tourism Market taking place 3-5 April this year, is the dedicated outbound travel event in China offering international tourism organisations the chance to meet Chinese travel professionals with a view to creating partnerships and international alliances. China is one of fastest growing markets in the world with the tourism industry representing over 5% of the country’s GDP.

A panel of experts on China tourism marketing, media and tour operation will also discuss hot industry topics at the show’s conference. BITTM is ideally timed to help Chinese travel agents and tour operators plan for the spring and summer peak season. The tourism market in China works to very tight schedules making this show perfectly aligned to Chinese promotional campaign calendars. Over 400 buyers are expected at this year’s show.

There is a growing need across the Chinese travel trade for increased knowledge about outbound destinations. BITTM provides the ideal educational platform for information sharing and training. New to this year’s show, are the BITTM Student Awards, which recognize the brightest tourism students in Beijing and will help to further their career progress with substantial monetary prizes.

Over 118 countries have already signed Approved Destination Status (ADS) with China, 76 of which can already receive tourist groups. Destinations investing heavily in the Chinese marketplace include: Australia, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Singapore, France, Italy, Germany and Switzerland.

Stephen Dowd, UKinbound Chief Executive and BITTM exhibitor, said: We recognize the importance of China as a source of inbound tourists, and encourage our members to be active in our sales activities in this market. Our first experience last year in China showed that there is a real need to raise awareness about the variety and quality of UK`s tourism products and attractions. The Chinese consumer knows very little about modern Britain. BITTM is a timely opportunity to reach new partners in China through a trade-only exhibition delivering quality buyers.

Karen Taylor, BITTM Event Director, said: We’re looking forward to another successful year of the BITTM show. We received very good feedback from our exhibitors at our first-ever show in 2005, with over 87% achieving their sales objectives for participation at the show. We will continue to focus heavily on educating the Chinese market about overseas destinations and are delighted to be welcoming even further visitors and exhibitors in April this year.
