Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur announces key hires

Introducing the team that will lead Malaysia’s newest urban oasis.

SINGAPORE – The first Banyan Tree resort to debut in Malaysia, Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur announces nine key appointments to spearhead the resort operations ahead of its launch in June this year.

Aligned with the Banyan Tree Group’s mission of inspiring exceptional experiences among their guests, Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur’s key appointments together share a wealth of regional industry experience and are bringing their keen knowledge of the local and international hospitality sectors to helm the team.

Just a 45-minute drive away from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the highly anticipated 5-star urban resort is set right in the heart of Malaysia’s capital amongst its commercial, shopping and entertainment hub. It occupies the top seven floors of the Banyan Tree Signatures Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Building, boasting stunning city skyline views that feature the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and Kuala Lumpur Tower. Designed to be an urban oasis, Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur adds a sense of luxury and comfort to every stay with its comprehensive suite of facilities.

Anders Dimblad – General Manager
A Swedish national, Anders is a veteran hotelier with over 19 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry. He returned to Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts in February 2016 as General Manager of Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur. This follows 10 years of successful management tenures with the Group from 2004 to 2014. Prior to joining Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur, Anders served as Vice President of Hospitality in DAMAC Hotels & Resorts, Dubai. Throughout the span of his career, Anders has been recognized for his leadership accomplishments on numerous occasions, such as being named one of the “Hotelier Middle East Power 50” for establishing himself as a leader in the hospitality industry in 2012 and 2013. In his current role with Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur, Anders will oversee the resort’s daily operations and lead the team into launching the hotel and maximising guest satisfaction.

Shereen Chow – Director of Sales & Marketing
In her role as Director of Sales & Marketing, Shereen will play an instrumental role in leading enterprising sales strategies to maximise hotel revenues and put the forthcoming hotel at the top of industry players’ lists. With over 27 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Shereen has held directorial positions in the area of sales and marketing at one world hotel, The Saujana Kuala Lumpur and most recently, Hilton Worldwide – National Sales Office, Malaysia.

Nicole Kwan – Financial Controller
A dynamic player with excellent business acumen and finance expertise in revenue analysis, Nicole has over 15 years of experience leading in the financial function and management role in top-tier hotels across Southeast Asia and Australia, including Sunway International Hotels and Resorts, and Hilton Brisbane. In her current role with Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur, Nicole is tasked to deliver optimum financial solutions to the resort with a customer-centric approach.

Tuarii Le Caill – Director of Food & Beverage
Tuarii, a Tahitian who has extensive overseas experience having held directorial roles in the area of food and beverage at the Mandarin Oriental Group in Boston and Switzerland, as well as the Director of Outlets of the W Hotel in San Francisco. Leveraging on his regional experiences, Tuarii will be responsible for the daily operations and management work of Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur’s restaurant and bar operations, including French-inspired bakery Bake by Banyan Tree, sky high afternoon tea and wine lounge, Altitude, the exquisite steakhouse Horizon Grill, and the highest hotel rooftop bar in the city centre, Vertigo.

Colin Rozario – Director of Human Resources
Colin has an excellent grasp on the hospitality landscape in Malaysia, with a wealth of experience with international hotel brands including Mariott and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. At Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur, Colin will oversee the full spectrum of human resources including talent acquisition, employee engagement, and workforce and succession planning. 

John Tan – Director of Engineering
John boasts 22 years of engineering experience, with a majority of his stints having taken place in established hospitality organisations. He was Chief Engineer at the Hilton Hotel and Resorts in 2004, where he honed his skills as a leader, dedicating his work to ensure smooth maintenance of every property. John became Director of Engineering at the Nomad Group, Sunway Hotels and Resorts and Renaissance Hotel before joining Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur. In his current role, John is responsible to empower his team in achieving exceptional standards and developing preventative maintenance that ensure a safe and welcoming hotel for all associates and guests.

Alexander Waschl – Executive Chef
Hailing from Tyrol, Austria, Alexander has over 19 years of culinary experience in fine dining across various hotel establishments including Das Central Sölden, Park Hotel Weggis, and Grand Hotel Kronenhof. He took on the role of Executive Chef in 2011 at the Club Saujana Resort Kuala Lumpur, where his creative and energetic approach allowed him to reach out to discerning and high-end clients, cultivating a dynamic culinary experience. The kitchen in all Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur food and beverage venues will be deftly managed by Alexander and his dedicated team to ensure guests will enjoy sensorial and unique gastronomic experiences.

Remco Rademaker – Front Office Manager
Remco, a Dutch native, has great passion in providing utmost quality service to guests. He has kept his loyalty to the Banyan Tree Group for over 6 years having worked in the front-line and refining his leadership skills in hotel management with each new role. Whether it is in Laos, China or Malaysia, Remco’s passion for the hospitality industry keeps him adept to ensure each guest leaves with a memorable experience.

Azizan Mohd – Executive Housekeeper
With 24 years of housekeeping duties and hospitality experience under his belt, Azizan will be helming the housekeeping team at Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur. Prior to this role, he has worked in numerous hotels and resort housekeeping teams, including DoubleTree by Hilton and the Hilton Hotels and Resorts Group, The St. Regis Hotel and Residences, Sheraton Subang Hotel and Towers, as well as the Sunway Putra Hotel.

Muhammed Nabeel – Information & Communication Technology Manager
Having worked in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry for more than ten years, Nabeel brings with him extensive experience in planning, implementing and managing software applications and hardware infrastructure to support operations. As an ICT Manager, he oversees system integration and designs of networks to ensure Banyan Tree’s ICT standards are upheld across all phases of Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur’s pre-opening and future operations. He has been with Banyan Tree group since 2011.
