Melaka Agropark, the latest agro-tourism product in the state, is now open to the public.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Ali Rustam said the 170-hectare park, which is similar to the Tropical Farm in Australia, enabled visitors to enjoy the serenity of the environment besides consuming fresh fruits.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the park, he said besides fruits, visitors could also get vegetables and handicraft products there.

From now until October 7, visitors would not be charged entrance fee unless they bought fruits or vegetables.

What is more interesting is that vegetables are sold at RM1 per packet while fruits are cheaper compared to the market price, he said.

Mohd Ali said the state government was confident that the park, which also has a lake for fishing, chalets, tram service and cycling facilities, would be able to attract domestic and foreign tourists.

He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad was expected to open the farm on September 29.
