MoC partners with Chinese e-commerce giant

The Thai Ministry of Commerce organized a promotion activity with e-commerce gurus from China on entering the largest online marketplace in the world on August 10 at the Ministry of Commerce (Sanambinnam Road).

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) partners with Thailand Smart Trade Center (TSTC) and JD.com, China’s second-largest e-commerce website to hold a promotion activity on “Express to China E-commerce with JD.com” with the aim to share knowledge about online trade in China in order to effectively reach target consumers. Participants gained insight from experts on the Chinese market from Jingdong, the company behind JD.com, Chinese e-commerce giants and also TSTC, a distribution center for Thai products and products that have been awarded the Thailand Trust Mark (T Mark) situated in Foshan, Guangdong, with currently 80 companies from Thailand displaying their products at the center.

The event also featured the launch of “Thailand Pavilion“, a special section on JD.com B2C e-commerce platform highly popular in China where the DITP has organized another channel for Thai exporters to directly reach Chinese consumers. A special event is planned to be held on September 11 to introduce Chinese consumers to the Thailand Pavilion.

“The TSTC is a project to promote Thai SMEs to reach Chinese consumers,” says Mr. Somdet Susomboon, Deputy Director General Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce. “Now, the DITP is working with Jingdong to expand the market to Chinese consumers in the B2C sector through the website JD.com”

Products that will be featured in the Thailand Pavilion will include food products, health and beauty products and lifestyle products.

The DITP established T Mark in 2012 to strengthen and promote Thai products and services with trusted quality in every dimension from the highest standard of production, fair labor, giving consideration to environmental concerns and social responsibility with the most important factor as the “Heartmade Quality“.

Currently, 737 Thai companies have received T Mark, divided into 2 main categories: products ranging from the food and agricultural products, industrial products, lifestyle products, fashion products and other products; and services from health and beauty services, international education services and medical services.
