Team boosted with senior hires at BHMAsia

In an exciting series of moves designed to boost the profile and performance of BHMAsia, the company has announced the hiring of Alexandre Amine Chaoui as CFO, Alexander Stenrud Parry as VP of Operations, Tran Lam as Director of Technical Services, and Steve Lockhart as the new GM for X2 Kui Buri Resort.

Alexandre Amine Chaoui takes over as CFO in order to improve the internal controls and financial management of BHMAsiaand its properties, and to prepare the financial operating systems in readiness for the company’s anticipated growth. Amine, who holds a master’s degree in finance from HEC Paris in France, has previously worked with Barclays Investment Bank and has extensive experience in France, the UK, Thailand, Myanmar, the UAE and Africa. His previous roles have encompassed financial modeling, analysis, management and structuring, financing and fundraising, investment banking, and hospitality finance and investment, providing a rich skill set as Amine takes up his new position.

“BHMAsia is rapidly growing and this needs to be accompanied by financial reporting of the highest standard at the management company level and at the properties’ level. We also require sound monitoring of profitability, financial performance and cash flow,” explained Amine.

Amine’s duties also include securing adequate capitalization and funding for BHMA as the company seeks to expand. “BHMAsia will be the leading boutique hotel operator in South East Asia,” said Amine, outlining his vision. “We will be above our competitors in profitability, financial performance, and ROI for owners and shareholders.”

The new VP of Operations at BHMAsia is Alexander Stenrud Parry, a Swedish national who brings over 20 years’ hotel industry experience, previously based in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York and most recent years in Thailand with Accor Hotels. Top of the priority list for Alexander will be to ensure the successful opening of eight new hotels this year, and to apply his knowledge of larger properties as BHMAsia adds the 266-room X2 Vibe Bangkok Sukhumvit Hotel and the 230-room X2 Vibe Hoi An Residence.

“BHMAsia is now experiencing strong growth with several new hotels in our portfolio and we are taking big leaps across borders in Asia which will lead to some growing pains. The challenge is to quickly anticipate and adapt to market movements and technological changes; being innovative and agile as a company is a must in today’s highly competitive hotel industry,” observed Alexander as he prepared to take responsibility for overseeing the company’s expanding operations.

“In the last 20 years, I’ve acquired in-depth knowledge in managing hotels and resorts which can help me to better support and coach our hotel General Managers to successfully lead our hotels, manage assets, provide excellent guest satisfaction and achieve our financial targets.”

The new Director of Technical Services is Tran Lam, whose extensive academic background is in design, architecture and engineering. He has been working in the urban design field for 13 years, including 9 years in leadership roles where he has taken charge of a number of high-profile projects in Vietnam, China, and the UK, valued in excess of $50 million. His expertise in project scheduling, cost control and quality management will be valuable assets to BHMAsia as the company continues its rapid growth.

While Lam oversees technical services across all regions, bringing his experience and knowledge to ensure that the X2 design DNA is replicated appropriately throughout the network and meets all the aesthetic and technical brand requirements, he is based in Vietnam where he can offer specialist insights into Vietnamese planning and construction standards as he guides the anticipated expansion in the country.

The final appointment is that of Steve Lockhart as GM for X2 Kui Buri Resort. This property has won multiple awards for its exceptional design and unique architecture created by renowned Southeast Asia-based architect Duangrit Bunnag, and is known as the ultimate holiday resort among local and international guests.

Located in a peaceful fishing village three hours south of Bangkok, the resort is now ready to welcome guests once more following renovations, and Steve will be responsible for providing a whole new range of upgraded service standards.

“BHMAsia has its finger on the pulse and supplies a unique level of luxury service whilst expanding rapidly. My challenge is to enhance and improve the X2 experience for guests within an innovative company that has existing high standards and unique luxury experiences,” said Steve, who has spent over 20 years in hospitality with Accor and has a wealth of multicultural experience in luxury properties.

“My goal is to work with the existing team ensuring all our guests experience the unique luxury level of satisfaction that BHMAsia delivers so well,” he added.
