SINGAPORE – As Singaporeans get back into work mode following the CNY celebrations and endure one of the year’s longest vacation ‘droughts’ – with eight whole weeks still to go until the next Public Holiday in April – Skyscanner has launched a new Public Holiday Planner to help Singaporeans beat their ‘back to work blues‘.
Now available in Singapore via the Skyscanner desktop and mobile website, the new Public Holiday Planner is an interactive tool which searches across airlines and online travel agencies to find the best flight deals over official public holiday dates. To find the best bargains, users simply have to select their preferred departure and return dates, and the search results are automatically sorted by the cheapest flights available for those days – providing destination inspiration to undecided travel shoppers.

To celebrate the Public Holiday tool launch, Skyscanner today released a list of the most wallet-friendly places to spend the Good Friday long weekend, without having to use up any annual leave. Whilst capital cities dominate the top five, holidaymakers can still grab a bargain beach break with Pattaya also currently ranking as one of the cheapest destinations to fly to from Singapore this Easter.

To help Singaporeans’ Ang Pow money go even further when planning their next Public Holiday get-away, Skyscanner also released its top three money-saving travel tips:
- Set Price Alerts to get daily updates on the best deals. Monitor flight prices by signing up for Skyscanner’s free Price Alert emails, which provide a daily update on the price of your chosen routes, ensuring that you never again miss out on a great deal.
- Save on foreign currency exchange. Withdrawing money abroad can cost a lot in charges. Although using a debit card can be cheaper than a credit card, be aware that most banks will charge for each cash withdrawal on top of a commission fee. Best practice is to take out larger sums so you’re charged less frequently. As a safety precaution, don’t keep all your money in the same place. Getting your currency before you arrive at the airport is also a way of securing the best rate you can and works out a lot cheaper.
- Get cheaper travel insurance. Taking out an annual multi-trip travel insurance policy is often cheaper than buying on the spot insurance for a single trip, so it can pay to plan ahead and get yourself covered for the whole year. There are many options on the market so it’s well worth taking the time to do your research and shop around for the best deals.
