Xiamen, China Municipal Bureau of Travel and Tourism hosts Magic Notes Scavenger Hunt in the Bay Area

People from all over the Bay Area came together for a chance to unleash their competitive side through a series of games and challenges.

BEIJING – The Xiamen, China Municipal Bureau of Travel and Tourism hosted their first ever Magic Notes Scavenger Hunt at Shoreline Lake Boathouse & American Bistroin Mountain View, California.

People from all over the Bay Area came together for a chance to unleash their competitive side through a series of games and challenges. Teamwork and critical thinking skills were tested, resulting in a global and cultural insight to one of China’s emerging cities, Xiamen, through its Chinese history and European-inspired architecture.

The Magic Notes Scavenger Hunt focused on Gulangyu, an island situated in Xiamen, which is known for its musical spirit of pianos — it’s even nicknamed, “Piano Island” (hence the name of the scavenger hunt, “Magic Notes”). The island itself features over 5,000 pianos that showcase more than 40 ancient pianos from all around the world.

The rules of the scavenger hunt were simple. 10 teams of 6 players were given a packet full of clue cards that led people to 8 stations around the Shoreline Lake campus. At each station, players completed a series of challenges (some as simple as solving a word game, and others as complex as needing to use a paddle boat to reach a manmade island on Shoreline Lake). Successfully completing each station earned each team a jigsaw puzzle piece. The first team to complete all of the stations and put together their puzzle won a handsome cash prize.
