The journalists flew on the THAI Smile route from Changsha and Chongqing and stayed in Bangkok for a night before flying to the tropical South.
BANGKOK – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is joining forces with THAI Smile Airways to promote quality tours for visitors from the People’s Republic of China. The initiative kicked off with a media familiarisation trip for 12 members of the media from the Chinese cities of Changsha and Chongqing to explore the many attractions of Surat Thani province including Khao Sok National Park and the resort island of Ko Samui from 22 to 27 September, 2016.
The journalists flew on the THAI Smile route from Changsha and Chongqing and stayed in Bangkok for a night before flying to the tropical South. The airline operates on all routes using Airbus A320-200 aircraft.
During the trip to Ko Samui
Ms. Runjuan Tongrut, TAT Executive Director of the East Asia Region said, “So many tourists now come to Thailand from China seeking unique and exciting experiences. By partnering with THAI Smile, we can show them the traditional ways of life found in Thailand’s southern regions and enable them to take part in some of the cultural activities found there. This wonderful region of the nation with its islands and parks is often little visited by Chinese visitors. But these new routes mean they can fly home with amazing stories from amazing Thailand to tell.”
Surat Thani has long been a popular destination for international tourists thanks to its famous islands, beaches and national and marine parks. The region also offers hiking and rock climbing, not to mention the world famous Full Moon Party that is held on Ko Phangan. Surat Thani Airport is only an hour’s fight from Bangkok offering an easy transit for travellers flying into Bangkok with many direct flights from many cities in China.
