PATA CEO meets with CNTA Chairman Li Jinzao

As the Chinese tourism industry shifts the tourism development mode from spot-based to region-based tourism, CNTA is looking to strengthen communication and cooperation with PATA and other international organisations whilst continuing to advance projects related to region-based tourism, tourism for poverty alleviation and tourism for diplomacy – promoting healthy and sustainable tourism development in China and the entire Asia Pacific region.

BANGKOK – China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) Chairman Li Jinzao, in welcoming Mario Hardy – CEO of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) – to Beijing, has been sharing ideas on how to strengthen communications and cooperation between the two organisations. Also present at the meeting was CNTA Vice Chairman Li Shihong.

Chairman Li said that PATA was a very influential international travel organisation in China and the Asia Pacific region. It had maintained good cooperation with CNTA for many years and, together, the two organisations had hosted a series of events. Chairman Li hoped that PATA would make full use of its strength to promote further regional tourism cooperation in the Asia Pacific region and create a safer, more convenient and more comfortable environment for tourists.

Mr. Hardy noted that Chinese tourism industry had grown rapidly and fruitfully in recent years and, in particular, the boost in China’s outbound tourism market had created opportunities for regional and global development. He added that PATA remains committed to enhancing communication and cooperation throughout the region and to promoting high-quality tourism growth. He stressed that he was looking forward with considerable anticipation to even greater cooperation with the CNTA in order to make a substantive contribution to the nation’s tourism industry.
