Guide training completed in Luang Prabang, Laos

The program of training has been underway since 2013, when Leesa kicked off the initiative in Myanmar and this year will see the road show continue to Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Thailand.

Diethelm Travel Group has just completed the second in a series of guide training events, this time in Luang Prabang, Laos. A total of 18 guides participated, including English, German and French speaking guides, along with local Diethelm Travel office staff – all completing 4 days of intensive training focused on creating “Journeys of a Lifetime”.

The sessions were led by service industry training specialist Ms. Leesa Lovelace. Leesa has many years of tourism experience in Southeast Asia, particularly working with businesses where exceptionally high standards of service are required on a day-to-day basis.

The program of training has been underway since 2013, when Leesa kicked off the initiative in Myanmar and this year will see the road show continue to Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Thailand.

Diethelm Travel places great emphasis on its guides and as representatives of the brand and service, are expected to leave each visiting guest with an indelible memory of their experiences and time in our care, whilst in Asia.

This is why the guide training program is also part of a larger project, involving a newly launched Service Manual, covering all aspects of Diethelm’s service standards – the sort of detail the company thinks really makes a difference, during transfers, excursions and touring. Each 4-day training event allows time for guides and staff to appreciate the full range of service standards and attention to detail required and incorporates practical exercises and role playing to make the event fun and effective!

On completion of the training, all attendees are awarded a certificate of excellence, issued by the “Diethelm Travel Academy” – a new initiative to streamline the on-going education and training of Diethelm Travel’s permanent and freelance employees.
