Ramada Plaza Bangkok Menam Riverside – Celebrating 30 years of classic Thai hospitality

This hotel, with 525 rooms, numerous restaurants and extensive meets space for conferences, exhibitions and weddings, played an integral role in the 1980s in promoting Bangkok and Thailand to a much wider sphere of international travellers.

BANGKOK – One of Bangkok’s most famous and iconic hotels is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The Ramada Plaza Bangkok Menam Riverside, known by many Bangkokians as simply ‘the Menam’, opened for business in September 1986.

This hotel, with 525 rooms, numerous restaurants and extensive meets space for conferences, exhibitions and weddings, played an integral role in the 1980s in promoting Bangkok and Thailand to a much wider sphere of international travellers. The combination of flexible meetings space and luxury accommodation was an attractive proposition for local and international companies seeking a ‘for purpose’ MICE venue in Bangkok.

The hotel also gained quickly an outstanding reputation with overseas tour operators and travel agents as a property that provided exceptional value for money in a sough after location beside the Chao Phraya river.

Today the hotel enjoys an equally impressive reputation amongst the various travel and tourism online communities and attracts business and leisure guests from every continent.

General Manager Klaus Sennik, at the helm for the past five years, has successfully steered the hotel through many challenges confronting Thailand’s tourism. He was recently appointed ‘GM of the Year for South East Asia’ by the Wyndham Group – the parent company of the Ramada Plaza brand.

“I am very proud to be General Manager of one of Bangkok’s most famous hotels that is celebrating 30 remarkable and highly successful years. The high numbers of repeat guests staying at the Ramada Plaza Bangkok Menam Riverside suggests that we have the right formula to create guest satisfaction. Our location within easy walking distance of Asiatique is an added advantage. There is something about a busy river in a major city that captures the imagination of hotel guests and there is no doubt that our guests enjoy the opportunity to watch life go by on the Chao Phraya,” said Mr Sennik. “I know that our commitment and very dedicated owners are already looking forward to the next 30 years.”
